So, you homeschool and you need some gift ideas? Or, maybe you have some homeschoolers on your Christmas list and have been wondering, “What are some great gifts for homeschool families?”
Ok, we all know books are great for homeschoolers, but what else?
No worries, we’re here to guide you through any gift giving season and help you with your homeschool christmas list, birthday party, or any other time you need to give homeschoolers a gift!
(Whew, I know!)

This tech kit pairs up with an iPad for different learning items. My daughter has practiced spelling on it, math, coding, drawing and so much more!
The Osmo Starter Kit comes with reflector, base, Words, Masterpiece, Tangram, and Newton Games.
Since our initial purchase, we have also added: Osmo Coding Jam Game (that helps you practice how to code in a REALLY fun musical way), Osmo Numbers Game, and new this year, Osmo Pizza Co. Game (which is a game where you run a pizza restaurant that helps with math skills).
Osmo is hands-down one of my favorite learning tools. If you’re only going to buy one higher priced item this year, make it the Osmo system! It is an investment and it is only for iPad use, so you need to know that before you purchase. However, it is on of the best learning investments we’ve ever made!
2. Kindle Fire
If you’re looking for a tablet, Kindle Fire is one of the best, most affordable options out there. We have both an iPad and a Kindle, and we still use both!
And, it’s not just for reading books. You can access the Internet, play games, watch videos, and more. It’s really a versatile addition to a homeschoolers arsenal of learning tools.
These tablets are also very affordable because you can often find them for $49 and under in fun colors! (I got some on sale one time for $29/each!)
Continuing our tech-inspired theme for a moment, if you have a homeschooler crazy about technology, coding, or video games, check out Bloxels Build Your Own Video Game.
With Bloxels, your homeschooler can “build your video games with a mix of physical and digital tools that include designs to help get you started creating your first game.” They then pair it up with the free Bloxels app on your favorite device.
This game was a Toy Insider STEM 10 winner.
I have yet to meet a kid who doesn’t like taking pictures. That’s why this VTech Kidizoom Action Cam 180 makes a great gift for any homeschooler!
This one takes photos and videos, and you can even use it in up to 6 feet of water!
Ok, I’m just going to come right out and say it: the Wonder Workshop Dash Robot has been on my wish list for a couple of years now!
This cute little robot helps
you your kids learn about coding and even responds to your voice! Using your iPhone or Android device app, you code things for the robot to do, like move around an obstacle course, light up, dance, and more! It also comes with an extender that allows you to pair it up with Lego Bricks. (I. KNOW.)
Awards: 2015 National Parenting Gold, Time to Play Magazine 2015 Holiday Most Wanted List, Opening Minds Innovation for Schools, ISTE Best of Show for Schools
(If we’re on your homeschool gifts list, then, YES, PLEASE.)
Microscopes are so much fun for all ages! There are great ones for preschoolers, like this Educational Insights GeoSafari Jr. Talking Microscope, and this more advanced microscope kit for beginners. (We have this microscope and I was impressed with how good it is for the price and style.)
7. Anything You Can Build
Building works the creative and engineering mind, so any toy or game where you have to build something is a great learning tool! Plus, I love the staying power of building sets. My daughter still plays with her classic Lego bricks quite often and we got those over five years ago!
8. Science Kits
Kids LOVE science because it’s fascinating and sometimes gross and gooey and you get to decipher stuff.
So, any kind of science-y gift that you pick up will probably be appreciated by homeschooling families. Plus, as an added bonus, there are science kits for all stages and ages and they can also be done as a family.
Try these hands-on science homeschool science kits:
Robots are super cool. If you don’t believe me, ask a group of kids. And, you’re in luck, because there are so many awesome robot gift choices on the market right now!
Being a chef is HOT right now (pun intended) so cooking-related items could be a fun gift for your homeschool family members.
I’ll never forget when my daughter was three and she asked for tool belt. Dang, she got A LOT of use out of that little tool belt. Know why? It’s FUN to fix things, especially as a kid! So, any fun fix-it tools will probably be a hit–especially with the younger kids. (If you have an older homeschooler, why not get them a complete, real tool kit? It’s something that they will use forever!)
12. Pretend Play
Pretend play is an awesome learning tool that is often forgotten. Pretending facilitates creative play, which is awesome for learning! Why not put together a pretend play box for your homeschooling gift?
13. Board Games
Homeschool families LOVE board games. And, most are fun AND educational, so they make a great gift! We recently did an extensive three board games post based on feedback from 42 homeschool parents. And, you can’t go wrong getting a homeschool gift recommended by homeschooling moms and dads!
