Hey there! Thanks for stopping by. I’m Jacqueline Wilson, The Homeschool Super Freak.
Sometime prior to 2011, I broke the news to my husband that I wanted to homeschool our daughter. It went something like this:
And so began my journey (which so far has involved laughing, crying, learning, gnashing of teeth, exhaustion, and elation … just to name a few).
I’ve been homeschooling for about 7 years now, but have been in the education field in some capacity for 17 years.
I write and edit academically — books, study guides, and college courses — and have probably written and edited over 50 proprietary books, guides, and courses for colleges and businesses. (I’ve actually lost count at this point.)
I teach, write, speak, and consult in academic and business fields, so it was a natural inclination to carry that experience over into homeschooling.
BUT DON’T WORRY, YOU DON’T NEED ANY OF THOSE THINGS TO HOMESCHOOL.
I created this site to connect with other homeschoolers and share an honest look at homeschooling (the good, the bad, the ugly, the fabulous) and to also provide different information that will support homeschoolers in their journey.
I like to say this homeschooling site is educational, informational, helpful and humorous.
In addition to being a homeschooler, I am also a/an: educator, college instructor, writer, #1 bestselling author, speaker, consultant, accidental pit bull advocate, feeder of people, and discriminating sock monkey enthusiast.
(Yes, I said discriminating sock monkey enthusiast. Don’t judge.)
I used to own an independent bookstore on the water.
(Yes, it was fabulous!)
We have a small collection of rescued pets at our home.
One more and I win a free set of steak knives.
In 2017 I wrote a homeschooling book that became a #1 BESTSELLER in 4 Amazon educational categories!
What’s Up With The Homeschool Super Freak Name?
The name Homeschool Super Freak actually came from a joke with other homeschoolers. We would jokingly (and lovingly) refer to ourselves as “homeschool freaks” and then I would say, “I’m not a homeschool freak, I’m a homeschool SUPER freak.”
Own your inner Homeschool Super Freak! (I know, right?)
I hold a Bachelor of Science, a specialized healthcare certification, and a partial Master’s Degree in Distance Education. (I should probably finish it, but I’m too busy, you know, homeschooling my kid.)
I am also the Founder and Executive Director of a nonprofit organization.
I used to read. A lot. But that was before…
