- Reportedly, 3 million people lined the streets to Buckingham Palace to catch a glimpse of the new Queen after her coronation on June 2, 1953.
- Some people thought she wouldn’t be a good monarch because they said her voice was boring.
- Queen Elizabeth’s favorite dogs were Corgis. The love for this breed started in childhood and she had many Corgi dogs throughout her reign. At one point she owned nine Corgis and had a total of 30 of this dog breed over her lifetime.

Fun Fact: St. Edward’s Crown, part of the Crown Jewels, and worn by Queen Elizabeth II at the coronation weighs almost 5 pounds! The Crown Jewels belong to the state and St. Edward’s Crown is on display in London and the jewels are kept in the Tower Of London.
