Why I attempt to write a blog about why homeschooling is better on an evening after a stressful day of homeschool burnout is a bit of a mystery, except for the very fact that I want this post to be real.
I want to be honest about the benefits of homeschooling as well as the disadvantages of homeschooling—an honest picture.
I want you to realize that there is nothing flowery and perfect about my life as a home schooling mom, and that loving something doesn’t mean it’s all roses and sunshine all the time.
Honestly, it’s the loving that makes us wade the oceans and fight the battles just so we can keep on loving it.
I recently wrote about how inconvenienced I feel as a homeschool mom and why is homeschooling bad (sometimes).
(So, if you’re wondering why is homeschooling bad, you definitely should read that, too.)
It was good to bare my soul and share my struggles of finding myself in a world of homeschool huge sacrifice.
Now, I want to share with you:
- Why I homeschool,
- Why I love it, and
- Why homeschooling is better for my family (in spite of the inconveniences).
These are the reasons why homeschooling is better for my family (and why it may be better for your family, too!).

Why I Love Homeschooling and Why Homeschooling Is Better for My Family
Why Homeschooling Is Better #1 : I Get to Spend Quality Time with Family
I love the time I get to spend with my children.
Though I weary of the arguing, the noise, and the little body crawling around my feet as I type, there is so much beauty in the facts that it’s ME that gets to do everything with them.
I read to them wonderful literature, wade with them through long divisions, and cry with them on the hard days.
Also, I love watching them express themselves through art and also sharing in their victories.
And, I even love the ugly truth that they get to see me experience hard days, too.

Why Homeschooling Is Better #2 : I Can Individualize Learning
I love that I get to help bring out the individuality that each of our children so beautifully has and help them feel comfortable in it.
And, I know them, and work one-on-one with them.
I know their interests, strengths, and weaknesses, and can provide them with the best learning assistance and curriculum to help them excel.

Why Homeschooling Is Better #3 : I Get To Set a Homeschool Schedule That Works Best for Us
I love being in charge of a schedule that suits us.
We can sleep in after a late night with friends, or crawl back to bed on the sick days.
We can get up early and fly through our work so that we can enjoy the rest of the day off.
Or, we can spend a day away from books, and instead learn and explore in other ways.
Why Homeschooling Is Better #4 : We Benefit From a Very Flexible Schedule
I love hauling my children wherever I go.
We go grocery shopping, to foster care meetings, and to the post office.
Not only are we experiencing life together, they’re getting exposure to things that they would miss by sitting at a desk for hours each day.
And, I no longer cringe when from all the common questions homeschoolers hear and when I’m asked why my children aren’t in school during traditional school hours.
I’m delighted to be a mom in charge of her children’s education.
Why Homeschooling Is Better #5 : I Get to Foster Continuous Learning
I love that learning never stops in a home school.
My mind is always in constant overdrive as I search for learning opportunities
Exhausting?
Yes!
But, it’s so rewarding when you overhear conversations around the breakfast table about carnivores, gravity, and famous explorers!
Why Homeschooling Is Better #6 : Homeschool Kids Teach Me About Myself
I love that even though home schooling stretches every ounce of who I am and brings out the best (and, sometimes, the worst) in me, I wouldn’t change it for the world.
The opportunity and privilege of being in charge of my children’s education far outweighs the inconveniences.
